Incidents during the police and firefighter World Games have made it impossible for anyone to deny that crime is the leading issue in the upcoming provincial election. The visitors are exposed to violence, intimidation and social decay and it’s reported all over the world. At the same time, our own police are facing extraordinary horrors at crime scenes they attend. Marty Gold describes the unsung heroes of our city – such as the two cops who saved a 6 year old child last week using extraordinary measures – and explains how they keep the homicide numbers from exploding.
