Tuesday, September 19, 2023 – On Sunday, CBC Manitoba breathlessly reported on a leaked audio of a telephone town hall held in August. Handed over by the NDP, the recording included an unidentified woman – unhappy with the PC’s refusal to fund a landfill search for missing women – accusing Kirkfield Park incumbent Kevin Klein of “appropriating indigenous identity”. That allegation was a CBC invention in the first place- and despite the headline insinuating Klein’s response to the caller was controversial, Marty Gold explains that it was a fair and firm response to a drive-by smear by an NDP partisan.
